When was your dog diagnosed with ME?
january 7, 2004
What meds is your dog currently taking for ME and related syndromes?
My dog Frosty Sandy Schaffer was diagnosed with megaesophagus on January 7, 2004. It was 2 days after his 7th birthday. He recently passed on May 2, 2009 at the age of 12. I was so fortunate to have him for 5 years after diagnosis when most people did not even think he would make 8. I am still very heartbroken over my loss.
How do you feed and water your dog?
I fed him soft food in which he ate at his level and he would sit after eating for about 5 minutes to ensure the food would get into his stomach.
What one tip or piece of advice would you give to families of newly diagnosed ME dogs?
Never give up. Give them all of the love and attention that you can possibly give them. When most people thought that my dog would not live to see his 8th birthday, he fooled them all and gave us 12 awesome years that I will cherish forever. If anyone would like more of my story please contact me at dreamhom@aol.com.
