Megaesophagus Dogs

A community for special dogs... and their families and caregivers

We all know nighttime is the WORST time for our canine babies with ME. I've found some really good solutions so I thought I'd post a few here and see what you all come up with, too.

1. Pro Collar - best thing that's ever happened to us. Jack wears his all the time, not just at night. We keep it on him anytime he may lay down (which, when you're a dog, is pretty much anytime you're not outside!). Just look on Amazon.com under Pro Collar and you'll find them, or on any pet supplies website.

2. Papasan chair/bed - To keep their heads elevated, sleeping in a "bowl" shape is best. Plus they look adorable, like little baby birds in a nest. These are great for big dogs.

3. Woombie Sleep Donut - I just discovered this gem and I think it would be fabulous for tiny or small dogs with ME. Same concept as #2 above. Here's a blog review about their actual use for babies, but you can see how it would work well for a little dog, too.

What else?

Hi guys,

We designed the Dakota bed. There are pics of it under my profile. We did not sleep a full night until we built the ramp for our Dakota to sleep in. It worked like a charm. Basically, it's a ramp that kept his head higher than his but.

Here are the pics!
