Megaesophagus Dogs

A community for special dogs... and their families and caregivers

Winston has been with us for a couple of years and recently has begun have more problems. He is vomiting a lot and just not have his normal happy dog attitude. I worry that something is happening and not sure what. He is on pepcid but we took him off reglan, it caused him to have overwhelming urges to lick the floor and that would lead to vomiting.

What are the symthoms of aspiration? We know to look for coughing, etc. He has alway been a major saliva producer.

When Jack was diagnosed with Aspiration Pneumonia, he was having trouble breathing and also could not get comfortable. He was restless, listless, no appetite and could not or would not lay down - he just stood still like a zombie. Very scary! :( We hope you do not have to go through that with Winston. Let us know how he's doing.
